DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Writers Series welcomes Sheri Brenden\, author of “Break Point: Two Minnesota Athletes and the Road to Title IX” in a conversation with her sister\, Peg Brenden\, one of the St. Cloud student athletes behind the groundbreaking 1972 federal court case that took on the unequal system of school athletics nationwide. The event will take place in the former high school gym\, now converted into St. Cloud city council chambers. Mayor Dave Kleis will provide a welcome. Co-sponsored by the Minnesota Coalition of Women in Athletic Leadership and the Stearns County Museum. SUMMARY:Breezy Point - Minnesota Council of Teachers of English (MCTE) Spring Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Humanities Center will be at the Minnesota Council of Teachers of English (MCTE) Conference this year. We will be presenting the following session: \n\nDrop Everything and Read Indigenous with the Native American Lives Series\n\nAbout the Conference\nThis year’s theme\, Every Voice\, invites us to embrace dialogue\, diverse perspectives\, inclusivity\, and the joys and challenges of teaching ELA in this time—and what better place to do so than on the shores of Pelican Lake at Breezy Point Resort\, where reflection and connection come naturally. \nThere will also be 30+ Breakout Sessions over this 2-day event—including topics such as writing\, media literacy\, diverse books\, rural issues\, and implementation of the standards and READ Act. Strands include elementary\, middle level\, high school\, and college-level presentations on a variety of reading and literacy related topics each day.
