We Are Water MN is thrilled to make its 2026 debut at our very first zoo host site! Please visit the exhibit at the newly-renovated Zollman Zoo & Nature Center, where you can learn more about water alongside the many animals that call it home.
The theme of IFest 2026 is, “Imagine IF…We All Belonged”, an intentional invitation to uplift and connect with the many diverse identities, cultures, and communities that call Minnesota home. MHC is proud to be the Education & Community Learning Partner for the event, which will host a day for students and educators, and another day when everyone is welcome to learn and celebrate.
Learn from Conservation Officer Schlag and Canine Officer Trapper about the duties of protecting Minnesota’s natural resources. Watch a demonstration of the canine skills Trapper has been trained to do, including how he finds invasive zebra mussels!
Go beyond the 1960s to explore long civil rights movements, from the Great Migration to Black Power, and their relevance for students today. Using content and sources from Dr. Yohuru Williams, Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Social Studies Specialist Brittany Rawson-Haeg and experienced classroom educators will lead this hands-on workshop supporting high school U.S. History teachers in designing inquiry-based, standards-aligned units.
To celebrate National Poetry Month, MHC’s Off the Page is bringing together two of Minnesota’s Poet Laureates, Joyce Sutphen and Gwen Nell Westerman. Sutphen will be reading from her most recent collection, “Paper Camera: Poems, Poets, and Poetry.”

Join us for the Spring Metro Indian Education Gathering hosted at the Minnesota Humanities Center. Anyone connected to American Indian Education and/or American Indian students is welcome to attend.
K-12 educators will receive 1 clock hour. Examine the final stage of the inquiry arc—taking informed action. This session will explore ways to empower students to apply their learning to real-world issues and civic engagement opportunities.
Stop two on the We Are Water MN 2026 tour brings us to the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul, where the exhibit is hosted by Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD). CRWD is a local unit of government dedicated to protecting, managing and improving the water resources of the District, which includes parts of Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Maplewood, Roseville and Saint Paul.
