Hours: This is an exempt position that will require working occasional evenings and weekends
Salary: $65,000

Minnesota Humanities Center
The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that supports the development of humanities programming in Minnesota, creates humanities programming, issues grants to support humanities programming, and operates an event center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Responsibilities
This position reports to the Grants Manager. This individual will support the successful administration of grant funds for the organization. This position requires a passion for details and organization, an ability to manage the grant process and technology, as well as a desire to build relationships, and the ability to effectively communicate about MHC’s programs and mission.
- Serve as the main point of contact for grantees, building and maintaining relationships, and supporting effective and timely communication.
- Coordinate full award processes in MHC’s online grant management system, Blackbaud Grantmaking (from application buildouts, application reviews, and grant awards).
- Manage grantee reporting, monitoring, and contract execution at the direction of the Grants Manager, and in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Track grant expenses and reconcile grantee payment requests against approved budgets
- Prepare a timely payment request for Grant Manager approval.
- Assist with Grantee Informational meetings and new Grantee orientations.
- Maintain Grantee training resources.
- Assist with bi-monthly grantee newsletter distribution to Grantees.
- Maintain accurate and organized information and reports using Blackbaud Grantmaking.
- Coordinate cross-departmental opportunities to promote grantee work and opportunities.
- Assist in compiling data for external reports to funding agencies. Assist with administrative tasks, including but not limited to award and declination letters, grantee surveys, grant email in-box, coordinating meetings, maintaining mailing lists, and file management.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will be an individual that is organized, enjoys learning, values working with others, and is comfortable working on several projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be a strong storyteller, writer, and editor who is committed to amplifying the voices of scholars and individuals from historically politically disenfranchised communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in: Communications, Business Administration, Humanities, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in grant coordinating, administration, or related roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Creative thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns and event concepts.
- Proficiency in grant making tools like Blackbaud Grantmaking and Foundant, and other platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with an elevated level of diligence.
- Passion for our organization’s mission and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
- Experience working with racial and ethnically diverse communities.
- Experience working on community-driven initiatives.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel).

- Willingness to work evenings and weekends with occasional travel outside of the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, multi-functional copiers/printers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate, use a telephonic device, and/or use a computer. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand, as necessary. While performing the duties of the job, the noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. Stress levels may become high during certain times of the year.
Expected to work a flexible and varied schedule that may include working on evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must be available to respond in the event of a crisis as needed. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
