Blaine – Let’s Celebrate Minnesota Water / Celebremos el agua de Minnesota

Join Anoka County Northtown Library for a bilingual (Spanish and English) celebration of all things Minnesota water! There will be a treasure hunt, Spanish vocabulary practice, music, and activities with Minda Gomez, author of Treasure of the North, the fourth book in the Martinez Kids Adventures book series! The program will be focused on K-2, but all ages are welcome.

Anoka County Library strives to ensure that all visitors are able to access library resources, services, and programs. Please call the library branch hosting the program at least two weeks prior to an event if there are additional accommodations we can provide for you to fully participate.

Minda Gomez lives in Minnesota with her husband Moisés and their three bilingual kids. Their family has created their own brand of “Mexigringo” as they blend their Papi’s Mexican culture with their Mami’s Minnesotan culture. Minda is a teacher of English Learners at a local elementary school. She has taught second grade in Mexico and volunteered in Guatemala, Peru, and other parts of Latin America. Minda is passionate about teaching children to be proud of their bilingual superpowers. She is hopeful that her readers and her own kids will identify with the Martinez family and remember that speaking more than one language is one of the many things that can make a kid special.

We Are Water MN is a project of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Minnesota Humanities Center in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society; the Board of Water and Soil Resources; the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources; and University of Minnesota Extension. We are Water MN is paid for by the Clean Water Fund, part of the Clean Water, Land, & Legacy Amendment that was created with the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
