St. Paul – We the People Summer Institute for High School Educators

July 13 - July 17

The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC), in partnership with the Center for Civic Education, is seeking a small group of Minnesota high school educators to participate in the We the People Summer Institute, a fully funded professional learning opportunity taking place July 13–17, 2026, at MHC in Saint Paul.

As the Minnesota State Coordinator for We the People and Project Citizen, MHC is working to expand civic education opportunities for educators and students across the state.

This immersive week-long institute will bring together educators from Minnesota and several other states to explore constitutional content, inquiry-based teaching strategies, and the nationally recognized We the People program. Participants will engage with constitutional scholars, learn best practices for simulated congressional hearings, and join a network of educators committed to strengthening civic learning.

The Summer Institute is intended for educators who are interested in exploring implementation of the We the People curriculum with students following the training.

  • A free classroom set of We the People textbooks
  • Content and instruction from constitutional scholars and civic education experts
  • Ongoing mentorship and implementation support
